

Joyce Bellande Sherlock was born in New Orleans, LA. on Jan. 28, 1928 and on Feb. 5, 2021 made her journey to Heaven’s Gates. She was 93 years old. She was the daughter of Aristide “Buster” Bellande of Biloxi, MS. and Mildred Lott Bellande of New Orleans, LA. She is survived by 5 children; Tommy Sherlock, Jerry Sherlock, Susan Bernecker, Peggy Tobin and Holly Rose. Also 4 grandchildren; Robert Thompson, Jessica Potter,
Mallory Thompson and the late John Bernecker. Joyce is also survived by many cousins, family and friends in Biloxi, MS and New Orleans.
Joyce attended St. Stephens Elementary and St. Stephen’s High School. She attended Loyola University before her marriage of 31 years to the late Alston Sherlock Sr.
Joyce’s love for her family, faith, and her community were well displayed throughout her life. Besides being an incredible gourmet cook she was a devout Catholic and at times a Eucharistic minister at Divine Providence Church. Her generosity included her service to the community in many ways. She volunteered on campaigns in all local, state and national Republican campaigns from 1980-2010. She became Vice President of the LFRW, President of Jefferson Parish Republican Women’s Club in ‘84 and was appointed for 24 years to the Jefferson Parish Zoning Appeals Board, and a longtime member of the Jefferson 25
Her love for adventure and travel took her all over the world. She made friends everywhere she went; Europe, Africa, Asia and more. She was kind hearted, generous and humble. Always a beautiful smile on her face. A true friend, a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, a fabulous cook and smart as they come. She will be missed by all. Services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Catherine of Siena, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will begin at 1:00PM followed by Mass at 3:00PM.
