Jules (Jay) C Bernard

Jules (Jay) C. Bernard, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the age of 86. Jay is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia O. Bernard and daughter Kerry M. Bernard. He is survived by his wife Janice G. Bernard; daughter Julynn B. Owens (Steve); son Durward J. Bernard (the late Lynne); grandchildren Orren Jones, Gavin Porter, and Rhett Bernard; five stepdaughters Karen, Beryl, Darice, Wendy and Jan as well as a dear friend Marilyn. Jay served in the US Army during the Korean War Conflict. He went on to graduate from Tulane University wherein which he was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. He was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 3729. Jay was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He had a long career as a civil engineer owning his own consulting business and later in life working as a consultant for Lanier & Associates. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 4:00pm. Visitation will begin at 2:30pm until service time. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church.
