Karyl Lee Brewer, age 68, passed in restful sleep while in home hospice care Friday, October 13, after a prolonged seven year bout with her cancer. She was born September 18, 1955. Karyl is the daughter of the late Amos Michael Brewer and Marie Mallard Brewer. She was a graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School, in Metairie, Louisiana. Karyl studied at Nicholls State in Thibodeaux, Louisiana and UNO in New Orleans. She was an Office Manager for LaCaze Moss & Company CPA's LLC. Karyl was a member of the Colonial Dames Chapter XVII Century, Magnolia Chapter McComb in Mississippi. Karyl had an interest in and promoted Monarch butterflies in migration. She would hand-carry formed chrysalis to preschools so the students could watch pupae hatch into butterflies and subsequently release them. Her curious mind branched out into all things with numbers including puzzles; word games and jigsaws. An avid follower of embroidery for years and a great fan of radio that she found with her father Amos. She had a keen interest in veterinary medicine and that is how she met her eventual husband as they were “vet techs” at Lakeview Veterinary Hospital in the mid-seventies. Cat over dogs; and a kind, generous and loving person in every endeavor she ever worked on; followed; or advanced. She believed and promoted all things good and peaceful, fair and just; remorseful of all other negative traits and foibles of man.
Karyl is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Mark Westbrook of 42 years of devotion and life together with 5 years in marriage. She is also survived by her sisters, Cheryl Richardson, Bronwyn Griffis; sister in-law Tia Machael Westbrook; her brother, Dennis Brewer; brothers in-law William Westbrook and Robert Westbrook; Nieces and Nephews, Craig Brewer( Mary Margaret Brewer), Peter Richardson and Sami Langley, Andrew Richardson (Kelly Richardson), James Griffis, Michael Griffis Stacie Griffis, Troy Griffins and Jamie Marshall; Cole Westbrook( Sai Seigel); Jesse Westbrook (Jenna); Dylan Westbrook( Phyllis); Colby Westbrook( Ashley); Great-Nieces and Nephews, McAlister Brewer, Sophie Brewer, Teresa Brewer, Mila Richardson and Luca Richardson; Phoebe Siegel; Charlotte Siegel; Maddie Westbrook; Izzy Westbrook; Archer Owen Westbrook; Madison Ann Westbrook.
