Katherine Latsis, born on February 11, 1938, passed away on August 30, 2016. She is survived by her beloved husband, George Latsis; their two children, Spiro Latsis and Maria Latsis; her daughter-in-law, Katherine Andrinopoulos Latsis; her grandchildren, Joanna and George Latsis and her many loving nieces and nephews. She is the daughter of the late George and Konstantina Tsatsoulis and the sister of the late John Tsatsoulis. She is survived by her brother James Salles and sisters Angie Kringas, Maria Filipopoulos and Emilia Mikroulis.
Born and raised in Tripoli, Greece, Katherine moved to the United States in 1967, and brought with her a profound sense of family and community. Katherine was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt, who was unconditionally devoted to her family. She served as a source of inspiration and unwavering support for her family, and instilled a sense of confidence in them that they could achieve their highest aspirations. Katherine was a kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Together, with her husband, she was co-owner of the family’s real estate business and was an instrumental driving force in its development and growth.
She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and an active member of the Ladies of Philoptochos Society. She quietly established a ministry for the elderly within her church, where she could frequently be seen visiting and comforting the elderly of the parish. She was an active servant for various charities, and was especially passionate about caring for the homeless and the sick. Katherine epitomized the humble servant, who tirelessly worked behind the scenes but never sought credit. She enjoyed nurturing others, helping them grow and flourish, much like the flowers she gently tended in her garden.
She was the unifying force of her family. She brought people together and opened her home to many, especially her nieces and nephews, who would congregate there to enjoy her company. She provided sound advice, wisdom, compassion, and love to all. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She will be greatly missed. May her memory be eternal.
