

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Katie was the youngest daughter of the late Arthur L. Rayhawk and Ann Virginia (Nugent). She received her B.S. from Loyola University in 1970 with a major in Secondary Education and minors in Math and Social Studies. Katie followed her father’s footsteps into Education, teaching High School in Orleans Parish public schools. She later found her way to accounting as a profession. She served the State of Louisiana for years as an Auditor fort the Louisiana State Racing Commission. She operated a successful CPA firm from Marrero, LA, serving clients in the Greater New Orleans metro area and throughout the Mid-South.
Katie was an avid Saints fan, attending games on season tickets since the early days at Tulane Sugar Bowl Stadium. She participated regularly in Saints charitable fundraisers (cruises). She loved to dance and truly celebrate life to the fullest.
She is survived by her siblings, Margaret Louise Lewis of Washington, DC; Mary Frances Rayhawk of Phoenix, AZ; Joseph Christopher Rayhawk (wife, Shelley) of Portland, OR; Robert Kevin Rayhawk (wife, Joyce) of Ogden, UT; her sister-in-law, Nancy Rayhawk and her niece, Karen Higdon of Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur Louis Rayhawk, Virginia Ann Ertmann, Stephen Marshall Rayhawk, and John Patrick Rayhawk.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life service to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the Event Center of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
