

Kenneth John Cognevich, Sr., age 81, peacefully entered eternal life on October 24, 2025. He was surrounded by family and close friends. Ken was born in Port Sulphur, LA on December 22, 1943. After graduating from Buras High School, he enlisted in the army, where he was stationed in Germany. After being discharged from the Army, Ken began a career with Chevron and married the love of his life, June Bertoneau. In 1975, Ken founded Engine Monitor, Inc. and Creative Graphics, Inc.
Ken was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in River Ridge for 51 years. He was also a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre and a member of the River Ridge Lions Club.
Ken delighted in his time with family, especially his four grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, electronics, and digital photography. He spent many weekends at his home in the Marigny where he loved to celebrate Mardi Gras and all things New Orleans. In later life, Ken was known for his fascination with the eagles that nested in his yard.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, June Bertoneau Cognevich; parents, Gertrude and George Cognevich; sisters, Monica and Christine Cognevich; and brother, George Wayne Cognevich, Sr.
Ken is survived by his son, Kenneth “John” Cognevich, Jr. (Katie Ricks); daughter, Tonya Cognevich Wellman (Greg); and grandchildren Kenneth “Kacey” John Cognevich, III, Connor Wellman, Mary Catherine Wellman, and Amelie Wellman.

The services will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy, River Ridge, LA 70123. The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date.
