Kristy Lynn Conrad entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Kristy was born on December 31, 1979, in Metairie, LA. Like all of us, she had inner demons, and she was taken from us far too soon at the young age of 36. “After a while you begin to love your problems. You fear recovery. When you have struggled for so long, you don’t remember life without your inner demons. You don’t want to remember. Because without them, who are you?”
Kristy graduated from Grace King High School in Metairie, LA in 1997, and she graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2002 with two Bachelor of Science Degrees, one in Biology and one in Psychology. She also graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA in 2007, where she received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree. Kristy had many interests and hobbies. She loved going to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show at Lakeside Theater, attending Meat Loaf concerts, working on computers and cars, cross stitching, doing crossword puzzles, and going to science fiction conventions.
She is survived by her mother, Sharon Barton Conrad; brother, Lennis Richard Conrad; sister, Kelly Conrad Burmaster (Brett); grandmother, Peggy Brassette Conrad; nephews, Travis Thomas Burmaster and Blaine Richard Burmaster; Aunts, Sherie Conrad (Julien Pembo), Brenda Conrad (George Lanning), Daina Conrad, Darnell Benitez (Brian); cousin, Nicholas Sporl; godchildren, Shannon Rains, Tristan Roundhill, Hannah Boone; and her three Cavalier King Charles Spaniel children, Princess Elizabeth, Princess Leia, and Prince Chewbacca.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lennis Tommy Conrad; grandparents, Thomas Henry Conrad, Richard Alvin Barton Jr, Ruth Trapp Barton; and uncle, Richard Alvin Barton, III.
Kristy was very much loved and will be sorely missed by all. She was a daughter a granddaughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a Nanna, and a friend. Kristy always tried to help people in any way she could. She was a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, a problem solver, and a rock of support. Those who knew Kristy can honestly say that she was a blessing, and she touched their life in a memorable way.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
