Kuang-yuen "Rita" Chow Louis

Kuang-yuen “Rita” Chow Louis, 88, of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 18, 2020 in Abington, Pennsylvania, after a brief illness. Born April 17, 1932 in Changsha, Hunan Province, China to Chi-Chiang Chou and Yuan-Chin (Huang) Chou. Sister of Hsin-Luh Chow. Beloved wife of Gain Lim “Frank” Louis for 48 years. Devoted mother of Pearl and Wake; doting grandmother of Sonia and Ryan. Graduate of National Taiwan University and the University of New Orleans. Worked in art/advertising for National/Canal-Villere grocery of New Orleans. Member, volunteer, and clerk of session at Chinese Presbyterian Church, New Orleans/Kenner, LA. Member, Louisiana Watercolor Society, Sunnyvale (California) Art Club. Award-winning watercolorist.

Rita is survived by daughter Pearl Flamberg (Alan) of Blue Bell, PA; son Wake (Carolyn Choi) of Houston, TX; granddaughter Sonia Flamberg (Stephen Froese) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; grandson Ryan Flamberg of Watertown, MA; and numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and brother.

Rita’s kind, gentle, creative and generous spirit is missed by many. Her watercolors are cherished throughout the U.S.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 4201 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, LA 70006, (504) 888-1375, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., the service at 11:00 a.m., and lunch at the church to follow. The service will be broadcast on the church’s YouTube channel, where the recording will remain accessible. Rev. Claire Vonk Brooks will officiate. Interment at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, was private.
