

Born in Kisatchie, Louisiana, Lucy Dee was the only child of the late Peter D. and Lucile (Hyatt) Dowden. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Travis D. Bozeman, Sr., whom she wed in 1941, and who died in 1988, and by her second husband, Louis D. Jackson, Sr., whom she wed in 1994, and who died in 2003.
Mrs. Bozeman Jackson became a licensed cosmetologist in the ‘40s, operating a beauty shop in Waveland, MS. After returning to New Orleans to live in the mid ‘50s, she later worked in retail at Robert Hall in the ‘60s and ‘70s. However, her favorite role was as wife, mother and grandmother.
She was an active member of both Village de l’ Est Baptist Church and East Edgewater Baptist Church, in New Orleans East, where she served in women’s ministry. She lived life to the fullest and was surrounded by the love of family, friends and acquaintances that will truly miss her. Lucy Dee had most recently resided at Ville Ste. Marie in Jefferson, Louisiana. She was vibrant and happy in her surroundings and enjoyed the company of the other residents. She succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall on Wednesday, April 22, which set in motion health issues that resulted in her death.
She was the mother of four children, namely Patricia Ann Bozeman Speer (Jerry), Travis D., Jr. (Shelia), William Miller, II (Diane) and the late Lucile Corine [Cindy/Lucy] Bozeman Harris (Eric). She was the stepmother of Donald Jackson (Marian), Barbara Jackson Steward (Brune), and Janet Jackson Taylor (John).
She was the loving grandmother of: Michelle Marie Jones, Jeannine C. Gondy (Bill), Simone Jones Cohen (Brian), Travis D. Bozeman, III (Ashley), Christopher M. Bozeman (d), Jeffrey G. Bozeman, Bridget Bozeman McKinney (Dan), Tim Bozeman, Gwendolyn Harris Pastoret, Eric Richard [Ricky] Harris, III, and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three brothers, Amon, Saul and Audie Dowden, and her three sisters, Annie, Lauretta [Bett], and Lena.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Thursday, April 30, 2015, with Visitation from 11am - 2pm and Chapel Service at 2pm. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Joe Lovelady. Interment will follow in Kisatchie, LA, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, with Visitation from 10:00 am and Service at 11:30 am at Kisatchie Baptist Church, followed by interment at New Kisatchie Cemetery.
