Marc David Maceira, 50, of New Orleans Louisiana passed away January 9th after a brief illness. A chef, restaurateur and musician, Marc was the founder and lead musician of the band Marcos and the Cresent Citizen and played venues such as the House of Blues and the N.O. Jazz and Heritage Festival. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Marc was active in Taíno Nation (Puerto Rican) tribal activities and ceremonies. He was a member of the Native American Church.
He was predeceased by his father, José Rafael Maceira. He is survived by his fiancée, Martha Brito. his mother Karen Howell Maceira, sons Ezra (Julie), José (Alison), Marcos, daughter Mariela, and three grandchildren, Myla, Emerald and Wesley.
Services to be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1 PM at Christ Episcopal Church in Slidell.
Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the United Confederation of Taíno People (uctp.org).
