His land grant included the Garden District and a street there still bears his name. Friedrichs Ave. in Old Metairie was named for her maternal grandfather. She proudly pinned Naval Aviator wings on her new husband, Lee, early in WW2, and loved her life as the wife of a career navy fighter pilot. She said that she enjoyed the challenges of having and raising five children at a progression of her husband's duty stations, including Corpus Christi, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Virginia Beach, San Diego, Seattle, San Diego again, and finally, back to New Orleans, where he retired in 1963. Maggie and Lee were long time members of the Audubon Golf Club and devoted parishioners of St. Angela Merici Parish. A memorial service is planned at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on February13, 2016 at 11 am.
