

Marilyn Jean Estes Evertz passed away on February 17, 2023 at her home in Long Beach, MS at the age of 92. She was born in Basile, LA on March 12, 1930 and resided in Louisiana for most of her life. She was a resident of New Orleans for over 50 years where she spent many years working for the New Orleans Steamship Association and moved to Mississippi just a couple of years ago to be near her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse of 56 years, Irwin R. “Pat” Evertz Jr.; her parents, Conerly and Allene Estes; brothers, Conerly Estes Jr. (Beverly) and Eugene Estes. She is survived by her daughter Candace “Candy” Evertz Mayfield (Richard); brother James M. Estes (Mary); grandchildren Amanda Hebert (Nick), Sean Mayfield (Sara), Ashley Mayfield, Ryan Engolio (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Colby Goodrow, Laney Hebert, Nicholas Hebert, Luke Hebert, Parker Mayfield, Jase Mayfield, Patrick Mayfield, Sophie Engolio, and Rylee Engolio. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Estes and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, and interment thereafter at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
