Marina L. Torres, loving wife of the late Ambassador Iluminado Garcia Torres, 83 years old, entered peacefully into heaven early Sunday morning, May 4th, at her residence at 7:40 a.m. Born at Fort Stotsenburg, in the Province of Pampanga, Philippines, she was the only daughter of Victoria Dizon Larido (Pampanga) and Alejandro Larido (Visayas). She will be terribly missed by her five loving children, Aida V. Torres Schneider (Jack), Joseph A. Torres (Angela Bishop), Marie Torres Schmitt (Richard), Cristina Torres Jannings (Demetri) and Emilie Torres (Todd Ganser). Marina “Nana” will also be missed by her three adoring grandchildren, Matthew and Marissa Torres Schmitt and Arianne R. Torres Schneider (fiancé William White), along with the Torres and Dizon Families worldwide. Marina loved her family, doted on her grandchildren, enjoyed sharing dinner with family and friends, sewing, baking (pan de sal being one of her specialties), cooking, gardening and singing songs, both in Tagalog and English, with her grandchildren. Marina took great pleasure in spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and her late four-legged companions, Devo, Mr. T. and Yogi. She always looked forward to and absolutely loved the several family reunions her children planned, which were always in her honor. Her beautiful genuine smile, dark brown eyes and hearty, infectious laugh will never be forgotten. She was a devoted and faithful follower of her Catholic faith. Marina was welcomed into heaven and reunited in spirit with her husband, “Mading”, on his birthday. They are now finally together, after 36 years of separation. Please join Marina’s family in celebrating her life on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, New Orleans, LA, starting at 10:00 A.M. followed by Catholic Mass at Noon. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
