Five years have passed, yet Marion’s spirit remains ever-present. A dear friend, a trusted colleague, and a beautiful soul — her kindness, quiet strength, and generous heart touched everyone lucky enough to know her. Know you are never forgotten.  Pray for us to Jesus.

My years at Sacred Heart were the highlight of my teaching career.  Marion, you were a huge part of that amazing experience.

Thinking about  you today Marion and knowing you are watching all of us.  You are missed but I know your grace is all around us every day.

Dearest  Marion,  
	On January 30, Millie and I attended a St. Madeleine Sophie celebration mass,  and as we drove to Sacred Heart we reminisced about the glorious times our faculty had together.  Juliet and Lorraine sat with us among other faculty members who attended.  After mass we “meandered” through campus, taking in all the changes and thankfully all the things that remain the same.  On the third floor we couldn’t help but refer to the classrooms as Marcie’s, Leslie’s, Juliette’s, Sean’s, Mrs. Grenier’s office and Sr. Landry’s art room.  We peeked quickly at  what we called our “new classrooms”, mine on the first floor, your room on the second floor of the building.  You were with me as soon as I stepped though those iron gates but I felt closest to you when we entered the chapel.  I could still feel the joyous, insightful, funny, tearful , holy moments we shared together as  a middle school.  You were such an elemental part of each experience. Those memories  and feelings will stay with me throughout my life.

My condolences to the Ramsey and Doyle families.  My 2 brothers and I grew up in the Mobile neighborhood where the Doyles lived.  Marion was a few years older than me, so we were more acquaintances than friends.  Like Marion, I was an only daughter and I always admired and wanted to emulate the way she held her own, and even stood out, in a family of rambunctious brothers.  She was a wonderful person.  I am very sorry for your loss.

Marion was a force of nature and loved to be in the middle of everything!  Whether she was regaling the faculty with stories of the antics of the students or her grandchildren, she loved telling those stories.  Her organizational  skills allowed Marion to envision an entire Middle School schedule making sure to include any and all variations to accommodate the students' needs or to map out all the details of that famous 8th grade trip to Dauphin Island makimg certain that "the girls" were happy.  That was always the goal.  
Marion was always available to those in need.  She would do anything in her power to be of help to friends and family in difficult times.
Last but certainly not least, Marion loved to "play madame"--to be a gracious  hostess for the many faculty parties, family celebration and, in the last year, our Book Club luncheons.  We always felt most welcome in your home.
Thank you, Marion, for some of the most wonderful memories I hold dear.

It is Earth Day today. Marion loved the earth. The rocks. The fissures. The fault lines. The estuaries. The meanders. The stars. And she loved the science that brought all things together in a beautiful, balanced inter-connectedness. She loved literature, and she loved her students. She taught us all so much about life, our planet, and love. 
Marion, please guide us now. Show us how to co-exist with others and our world as you so often did with your eloquent, insightful chapels.
I miss you so much.

I taught math right down the hall from Marion's science lab for 24 years.  We could hear each other sometimes because we all left our doors open so classwork activities could spill out into the wide hall.  She would say, "I sure enjoyed your lesson today, and grin, "I never heard anybody so PATIENT!"  Certainly one of the best science teachers I ever observed, she encouraged all of us to MEANDER through our world, and savor every moment, every detail.  She had an incredible memory, a wonderful sense of fun, joy, and humor.  An avid reader and great host for our book group discussions, she made astute comments about things and knew how to tie it all together.  All of us-- students, teachers, friends were very lucky, indeed, to have known Marion.

She was a kindred spirit-book lover,bouyant,outgoing. Her approach to what life brings will be missed

When I began teaching at Sacred Heart, there was a system in place that assigned new teachers to the seasoned pros for mentoring purposes.  I was assigned to Marion, and I’m a changed person because of it, for though the program was designed to cover just that first year, Marion clearly thought I needed a lot of mentoring. She never stopped, and while the lessons about teaching became more infrequent as I gained more experience, I never stopped learning from her about countless other things, as she was never at a loss for something worthwhile to talk about.  How lucky am I that her meander crossed mine! Thank you, Marion.

Mrs. Ramsey taught my Science class, but my memories of her involve so much more than that - about short stories she wrote and read to us, about our Dauphin Island trip, introducing us to the outside world by starting with our own local geography. I remember her almost more as a loving aunt than as my school teacher - someone who took the time to cultivate a knowledge of and relationship with her students, who cared personally about how they progressed both in and outside of her classroom, who cared about my grades but cared more about me. I am lucky to have had her as one of the Sacred Heart faculty that left a lasting impression on me.

There are no words I can express regarding the transition of my dear friend from this life to everlasting peace.  I can only send my fondest thoughts, heartfelt prayers, and healing energy for you all and for all of us who knew and loved her.

Steve and I were so sorry to hear the sad news. You, Marion and the kids were such good neighbors when we lived across the street from you on Joseph Street.. We now live in the Georgia mountains but have many fond memories of our times with all of you. Marion was always fun and funny and that is how we will remember her. Our hearts go out to all of you. May her memory be a blessing.

                Below are excerpts from a letter I wrote to Marion when she retired from the Rosary dated May 29, 2015. If I recall, I read it to the faculty at a retirement gathering at your home. I hope the words give you some comfort.  Debbie
   
Dearest Marion,    
A year ago, when I learned that you were considering retiring from the Rosary, I began thinking of what I wanted to say to you. The following thoughts came to mind immediately.                    	 That memorable chapel…  “Meander,” the verb meaning to wander, amble, ramble, stroll, or rove.  “Meander,” the noun identifying a winding path or course, a turn or winding of a stream. That morning using vivid images and descriptions, you invited the middle school to stop and take pleasure in the intricacies of nature, the Earth and its creatures. In my mind, you invited me to abandon my “tunnel vision” for awhile and just rest and appreciate the immediate. I always admired your ability to do just that. 
When I magnified the details, you offered a global view – the overall, the concept, the interrelationships.  A concept that will always be with me was the one you imparted to the girls, “form follows function.”  It was typical of the way you taught…conceptually, holistically, stressing the beauty of the process rather than the final product.  
I always considered you to be my mentor, my tutor.  It was never about science content or concepts. It was about what was important in teaching.  You taught me that “the girls” as you always called them, came first; the subject matter came far behind. I have taken this most important lesson with me to Southeastern but it all started with you at the Rosary.
