Martin C. Sylvia Sr.

Martin C. Sylvia, Sr., of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Sylvia; father, Aledone Sylvia; mother, Mary Bartholomew; brother, Lawrence Sylvia; sister, Francis Andry; father-in-law, Pedro (Peter) Ramos; and mother-in-law, Julia Threadway. He is survived by his sons, Kenny and Marty Sylvia; daughter; Pamela Morgan; grandchildren, Kenny (Nino) Sylvia, Cynthia Page, and Cherie Lynn Sylvia; great grandchildren, Chris, Steven Jr., Laila, Minah, and Veronica; numerous nephews and nieces; brother-in-law, Francis (Bugs) Ramos; and sister-in-law, Rita Sarvaedra.

Martin, a high school graduate, served in the Navy as a signalman, 3rd class. After his service, worked as a supervisor at the Can Company. He was a proud member of Thoth, a local bowling league, and served as an usher at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., in New Orleans, on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Interment to follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
