Mary Borel Marsh

Mary Beth Borel Marsh passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on January 1, 1946, in New Iberia, Louisiana. After graduating from East Jefferson High School, she began a career with Hertz Rent A Car at New Orleans International Airport. She worked there for 34 years and retired as City Manager. She lived in Harahan from 1954 – 1977 and then moved to Metairie where she stayed until the end of her life. She was a member of Reach to Recovery, both Colonial and Chateau Country Clubs, and she was active with the Susan Komen Foundation as a breast cancer survivor. She loved all animals but had a special place in her heart for dolphins and her many beloved dogs. She was happy to serve her community as a poll supervisor in Jefferson parish elections. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, cruising, traveling with her sister and husband (especially to her favorite place, Hawaii), and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle D. Bougere, Debra L. Bougere; son, Robert C. Marsh, Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Kyle DiGiorgio, Brenna Lampiasi, and Shelby Farrell-Marsh; great grandchildren, Violet and Valyn Marsh; brother, Milton Borel, Jr.; and her precious grand dogs, Stella, Burney, and Sammi.

Mary Beth was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Marsh; granddaughter, Bailey N. Marsh; parents, Nona Marie Borel and Milton C. Borel and sister, Patricia Borel Twickler.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Ochsner MICU 7th Floor, Dr. McKneely-Smith, Dr. Oldman; and nurses, Louis, Melody, Chelsea, and Josie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4 PM – 6 PM. There will be a concluding prayer said at 5:45 PM. She will be laid to rest in All Saints Mausoleum at a later date.
