Mary Myra Martin, age 79, of Metairie passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. She was born in New Orleans to Joseph Anthony Martin and Corinne Boger Martin on January 7, 1947. She graduated from Dominican High School. Mary Myra was a resident of Metairie Towers where she loved socializing with her neighbors. She was a devout member of St. Francis Xavier Parish until her health prevented her from attending regularly. She was affectionately called “Nan” by all her nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Mary Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Anthony Martin and Corinne Boger Martin.
Survivors include her brother, Daniel J. Martin and his wife, Sandra Franz Martin; niece, Theresa Martin Strahan; nephew; Robert Martin; great-nieces, Laura Popp Emmons, Lauren Martin Pitre, Rachel and Corinne Martin; great-nephew, Daniel Popp; great-great-nieces, Alaina, Madison and Emma Emmons, Emelia Pitre; and great-great-nephew Grayson Emmons.
A visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries, located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, on March 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A memorial mass will follow at 10:00 am with Fathers Christian and Kevin DeLerno. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
