Mary Ann Reis Schulze, of Metairie, Louisiana, lost her long battle with early onset Alzheimer’s on July 5, 2023. She died peacefully at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. Reis and Jerlene Wadenpfuhl Reis, and her sister, Noelle M. Reis.
She leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Richard R. Schulze and her four children: Adam B. Schulze (Heather), Laura S. Giffin (Josh), Andrew R. Schulze, and Karl C. Schulze (April) and two grandchildren, Annabelle and Benjamin Giffin. She was a loving wife and mother, who adored her children.
Born in New Orleans, Mary Ann grew up there and later moved to Metairie where her parents built a new home. She graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School, then spent more than twenty years with All Transport and Danzas as a custom house broker. She took off a few years to raise her children before becoming involved with St. Benilde Parish Church and School in numerous positions throughout the school and church. She worked for the school as a PreK 3 assistant teacher before being asked to establish a PreK 2 program, where she served for a few years, before her illness caused her retirement. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her cakes were works of art, in both looks and taste. She also loved being surrounded by her family and friends.
We wish to thank Clara’s Sitting Services for their many, many years helping Mary Ann and our family. We would also like to give many thanks to Serenity Hospice Services for their care, assistance and support. They are a special group.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Benilde Church, 1901 Division St., Metairie, LA on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will be held thereafter. Burial services will be private.
