Melvin A Siemssen

Melvin Andrew Siemssen passed away on March 15, 2015 at age 85. Melvin was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Waggaman for over 30 years. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd J. Siemssen and Anna Gerhold Siemssen; brother Lloyd J. Siemssen, Jr.; sister Lois S. Larguier; son John Siemssen; two step-daughters Beverly and Ilece Alexander; and one step-grandson Andrew Alexander. Melvin is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Beverly Saltzman Siemssen; children Melvin Andrew Siemssen, Jr., Kathleen Giovengo, Stephen Siemssen, Christopher Siemssen, Brian Siemssen, Elizabeth “Betsy” Dominique, Karen Biles, and Lisa Siemssen; 16 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and one step great grandson. Melvin retired from the Times Picayune after over 34 years of service. Melvin was a dedicated member of Victims and Citizens Against Crime Inc.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends on Thursday beginning at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum immediately following the services. Donations may be made to Victims and Citizens Against Crime, Inc.
