Merle Brechtel Altobello passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was 91 years old. She was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Brechtel. Beloved wife of the late John J. Altobello. Loving mother of Carolyn A. Bordes (John), Sharon A. Whitman (Robert), and John J. Altobello, Jr. (Carolyn). Sister of Audrey Cullen and the late Carolyn Brechtel. Grandmother of John Bordes, Jr. (Shannon), Chrystan Mancuso (Brad), Randy Bordes, Michelle Bordes, Shannon Impastato (Dominick), Lauren Burmaster (Christopher), Robert Whitman (Kristi), John Altobello III, Christopher Altobello, and Michael Altobello. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
As per Mrs. Altobello’s request, private services and burial were held last Friday, June 19, 2015. Donations to De La Salle High School, 5300 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana, 70115, are preferred.
