In loving memory of our beloved mother, we celebrate the life of Antoinette “Nina” Cacioppo Roule. Her unwavering love for her family and devotion to Christ and the Church were evident to all who knew her. Nina passed away on November 27, 2024 at the age of 80. Born on March 22, 1944, in Independence, Louisiana, Nina began a life that was soon to be filled with profound generosity, dedication, joy, and copious amounts of love. She was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Cacioppo. She was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Hamilton and survived by her sister, Joyce Matthews (Ted) and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1962, she married Darryl Roule, Sr. and they lived most of their married lives in Metairie, Louisiana. Together, they nurtured and raised a son, Darryl Roule, Jr. (Lisa) and a daughter, Dr. Criss Roule-Graham (Nelson). After surviving her daughter and husband’s passings, she dedicated her life to raising, supporting, and providing the greatest example of unconditional love to her five surviving granddaughters: Ashlyn Graham Dalferes (Justin), Kelsey Graham Clark (Justin), Kaysie Graham (Claude), Haley Roule LaCombe (Reese), and Gracie Roule. She will forever be “Mawmaw” to her six surviving great-grandchildren: Kohen, Logan, Sophia, Gracyn, Cooper, and Claude. She cherished every moment with “her girls” and was proud to witness all the milestones, big or small, of her great-grandchildren.
Nina’s vibrant spirit extended even beyond her family, as she took pride in her many efforts to remain rooted in her faith. She was an active member of Saint Philip Neri parish as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, and a heavily involved member of various church groups. As a devout Catholic, she led by example to always walk in the way of Christ, regardless of the hardships that life gives you. She was a woman of resilience and vitality and will always be remembered by her ability to thrive through adversity while striving for compassion and graciousness. To know her was to love her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave. in Metairie, on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. A private interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
