Paquita Guevara

Paquita Aguilar de Guevara, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 5, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born in Nagarote, Leon, Nicaragua. Paquita was a loving mother to her daughters and a faithful member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church.

Paquita is preceded in death by her beloved husband Octavio Guevara of 15 years; her parents; Pascacio Aguilar and Mercedes Gallo Aguilar, her sisters; Luisa A. de Abarca and Maria Mercedes A. de Sanchez, and her brothers; Emilio and Pascacio Aguilar.

Paquita is survived by her daughters; Jenny Patricia Guevara Gonzalez (Miguel), Ruth O’Reilly (Brian) and Brenda Xiomara Bartling (Lance), her sister; Milena A. de Isaba, her brothers; Dr. Roberto, Rito and Eduardo Aguilar; and her grandchildren; Patrick O’ Reilly and Antonio Bartling.

Paquita taught us all by her actions what is really important in life- to love, support and care for friends and family in our lives. She was known for her devotion to her Catholic faith, especially to La Purisima (The Blessed Virgin Mary), El Senor de Esquipulas (Christ of Esquipulas) and the Holy Spirit.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11AM. The interment will be held on a later date in Nicaragua.
