Patricia Schweickhardt Deynoodt

Patricia Schweickhardt Deynoodt born on October 9, 1935 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Deynoodt. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Deynoodt Joffrion and her husband Christopher; son Donald A. “Mann” Deynoodt, Jr. and his wife Mary; sister, Marilyn Reel; and grandchildren, Emma and Eve Joffrion, and Lilah Deynoodt.

Patricia spent her career as an educator where she worked at Alice M. Harte Elementary School until joining her father and sister at Schweickhardt’s Drug Store, one of the last soda fountain’s in the country until it closed in 1991. She then returned to teaching at St. Andrew's Episcopal School where she taught Pre-K until she retired in 2006.

She was an avid bridge player and cherished her time with friends and family. She especially loved going out to eat and then regaling anyone willing to listen with stories of her favorite meals. Always extremely generous, she would treat anyone agreeable to joining her for a few hours to a meal, especially breakfast, which was her favorite. Participating in large family gatherings and watching everyone share in a good time brought her special joy.

Services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Interment for family will follow at All Saint Mausoleum.
