Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Anthony Gomez, Jr.; her parents, Samuel P. and Louise R. Rosato Mezzacapa; and her 18-month-old brother, Carl J. Mezzacapa.
She is survived by her four children, Steve Gomez (Mary), Sandra Sturgis, Deborah Gomez (Kenny Hall), and Lisa Neff (Cleve); her 13 grandchildren, Danielle Thompson, Ashley Gomez, Garret Gomez, Michael Gomez, Sean Sturgis, Ryan Sturgis, Amber Gardner, Heather Fennell, Ricky Clouatre, Jr., Jesse Clouatre, Preston Neff, Christopher Neff, and Anna Neff; and her 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousin, Diane Lovoy and family, and the Timpa family cousins all of Alabama, her cousins, Amy and Cindy, of New York, and her Gennaro family cousins in Florida.
Patricia was born in New York on July 2, 1942. When she was a baby her family moved to Birmingham, Alabama to run the family grocery store. When she was six years old, her baby brother, Carl, died from cancer, which devastated her family. Patricia had to quit school and work at the grocery store so she could financially help her family. She eventually got her GED, and began a long career with the IRS, where she retired from in her 60s.
Patricia lived in Kenner, Louisiana until the death of her husband in 2019. She then moved to Hurley, Mississippi to live with her daughter, Lisa, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed genealogy and watching television crime shows, and was a fabulous Italian cook. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Deaconess Hospice Care in Biloxi, for the care and compassion they gave to Patricia and her family.
