

She was born in New Orleans on St. Patrick’s Day of 1943 to Ruth Cenas Longo and Joseph Longo. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy in New Orleans, where she made lifelong friends that called themselves “The St. Joe’s Girls”. Each Mardi Gras, her love of the traditions shone through by her captaining The Mystic Krewe of Shangri-La. Pat was a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Ghost Church in Hammond. She carried a joyful spirit and was loved by all who knew her.
Patricia was preceded in death by the love of her life, John J. “Johnny” Sugar, and her parents, Ruth and Joseph Longo.
She is survived by her older brother, Dr. Salvador Eugene Longo, Sr. (Pamela); her loving nieces, Sherri, Debbie, and Michele; nephew, Salvador, Jr.; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral services on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, in honor of Pat’s lifelong devotion to her faith, the family requests donations to Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond and, in memory of her compassion for animals (especially her dogs), consider a donation to a local animal rescue or humane society.
