
Patrick David Godbey, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9 in New Orleans, LA. He was 47 years old.Patrick leaves behind his wife Tori, children Michael and Leah, his mother Priscilla foster, stepfather Tom Foster and sister Emily Godbey. A native of Houston, Texas who enthusiastically embraced life as a New Orleanian. He attended St. John's School, and graduated from Episcopal High School in Houston. He earned a B.A. In Creative Writing from the University of Redlands in California, an M.A. from Purdue University in Creative Writing and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Indiana University. Patrick began his career as an Academic Advisor at the University of Texas Austin in 1999 and in 2007 he began working as Assistant Director of Exploratory Studies and Senior Academic and Career Advisor at Tulane University. He was especially dedicated to mentoring students in the Posse and College Track programs. He was an accomplished guitar player, song writer and poet. The founding member of Dresden 45, a seminal hardcore punk/thrash group, founder of the Patrick Godbey Band and My Man Godbey. Patrick was a caring, compassionate man, a steadfast friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
