Dr. Rene Jude Pigeon was born January 31, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Son of Rene Joseph Pigeon & Myrtle Brisbois Pigeon. Wife: Joan Catherine LoForte, and Three (3) children, Bryan D. Pigeon, Eldest, Craig S. Pigeon, deceased, and Holly Charleville Pigeon. Three (3) Grandchildren, Dominique Rene Pigeon, Mason Schoolmayer, and Krista Schoolmayer. One (1) Great Grandchild, Scarlett Rose Pigeon. Dr. Pigeon, was a Christian, and worshiped, and praised the Lord his entire Life, and his favorite Commandment was to "LOVE THY NEIGHBOR"
Dr. Rene Jude Pigeon attended St. Aloysius High School, and was the manager of the 1958 Basketball, and Baseball teams. He attended Loyola University, for Pre-Medicine, and also attended Southern College of Optometry, and earned his degree Dr. O.D. He entered the Army as an Optometrist, to Serve Armed Medical Service Forces, and stationed in Fort Meade Hospital in Maryland, just outside of Washington. Rank was a 2nd Lieutenant Officer, and was very proud to wear his Officers Uniform throughout his entire Life, on Special Honored Occasions!
He served as the Past President of the Louisiana Association of Optometrist, Editor La./S.E. as well as the Board of Optometry, Pres. SE. He practiced Optometry in Downtown New Orleans, Metairie, Mandeville, and Slidell, Louisiana for over 58+ Years, and was one of the oldest practicing Optometrist in the State of Louisiana, and cared for many patients during his entire career. Dr. Pigeon was a member of Metairie Country Club, Chateau Estates Country Club, Beau Chene Country Club, and was a Captain for Bacchus for many years.
Dr. Pigeon's Legacy will live on through those he knew and loved!
