CELEBRATING THE LIFE of... Rhodessa Corsset Price Sunrise August 17, 1930 Sunset December 11, 2025 "And this is what he promised us —eternal life." 1 John 2: 25 Sis. Price, the youngest of five children, was born on August 17, 1930, in St. Francisville, Louisiana, to the union of Andrew Corsset and Florence Lewis Corsset. As a young child, following the passing of her mother, she was brought to New Orleans by her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and Josephine Lewis, Sr. Sis. Price gave her life to the Lord at the age of eleven and was baptized at Second Baptist Church, Sixth District, by the late Rev. Dr. Paul Walker Raphael, pastor. She was educated in the Orleans Parish School System, having attended McDonogh No. 6 Elementary School; Gilbert Academy (presently DeLaSalle High School); and Straight Business School, located at the corner of North Claiborne Avenue and Esplanade Avenue. Sis. Price was married to the love of her life, the late Edward Price, for forty-six years. From their union, one beautiful child was born, Velva Ann. As a young Christian, Sis. Price made up her mind to serve the Lord and “let her light shine.” She loved her church and treasured fellowship with its members— especially dining together on Sundays following Sunday School. Sis. Price leaves a remarkable legacy of Christian service. She served faithfully with the Second Baptist Church Credit Union; as Junior Choir pianist; as a teacher at the SBC Day Care Center and Kindergarten; as a member of the SBC Benevolent Society; and as Assistant Youth Director under the late Vivian Kyles Smith. She also served with great joy as a delegate to the First District Missionary Baptist Association, the Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention, and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. Sis. Price was appointed Church Secretary by the late Rev. Dr. Paul Walker Raphael and continued to serve in this role under Rev. Dr. Samuel Gibbs, Jr., pastor, until her health declined. Sis. Price is survived by her devoted daughter, Velva Ann Price Rabb; son-in-law, George Rabb; grandson and his beloved wife, Brennan and Jovan Rabb, of Los Angeles, California; and three great-grandchildren: Kamryn of Washington, D.C.; Zoë of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Geneviève of Los Angeles, California. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." Revelation 14: 13, NIV. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Second Baptist, Sixth District Church, 4218 Laurel Street in New Orleans, on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 10:45 AM with a service following at 11 AM. Sis. Price will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the services have concluded at church.
