Rhonda (“Ron”) Jean Lybrand, age 69, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on April 11, 2026 at The Springs of Chenal Health & Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by her son, Zac, and her Shih Tzu, Jagger.
She was born on August 20, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Ronald and Eloyease Lybrand. From an early age, Ron was known for her ability to make friends with anyone—a quality that would define her life and touch everyone who knew her.
Ron was a devoted mother, daughter, and sister, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her two children. She had a special way of overcoming any obstacle that came her way, and her presence made those around her feel safe, loved, and as though anything was possible.
She is survived by her two children, Brie Lybrand Garza and Zachary Lybrand Bresler; her brother, Jim “Butch” Watkins; and her two nephews, Brock and Levin Fuller. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eloyease Lybrand; her father, Ronald Lybrand; and her sister, Michelle Lybrand.
Throughout her life, Ron found joy in her work as a hairdresser and in her hobbies of shooting guns and relaxing on the beaches along the Gulf Coast. Those who knew her will remember her for her happy personality, her quick wit, her love for her two children, and a good muffuletta.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, Louisiana 70124, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In honor of her life, the family asks that any flowers or donations be sent to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
Though she is no longer with us, her love and the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
