

Richard (Dick) G. Pfister passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2015 at the age of 80. Dick was a native and lifelong resident of Metairie, LA. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Joan McEvoy Pfister. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Albert J. Pfister and Elfleda Becnel Pfister and his sister Mary Agnes Pfister (Kirsh). He is survived by his five children David Pfister (Maria), Paul Pfister (Ellen), Michael Pfister, Jodi Fitzpatrick (Tim), and Jan Park (Bill). He graduated from Jesuit High School, class of 1952, and graduated with a degree in Geology from Louisiana State University 1956. He then started his career at Southern Natural Gas and in 1969 joined Clovelly Oil Company Inc, where he spent 33 years first as Vice President of Exploration and then as President from 1981 until his retirement in 2002. Dick continued on the Board of Clovelly Oil Co. LLC for several years. During his career, he was an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, New Orleans Geological Society, and the Petroleum Club. Dick was a loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren at his camp hunting and fishing. Dick was a man of great faith, witty, fun loving, and a generous husband and father. He was loved dearly by all who shared his life and will be missed deeply. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at St. Catherine of Siena Church located at 105 Bonnabel Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Holy Mass at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please offer a mass in Dick’s name at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Metairie, La.
