Richard F. Price, Jr. “Rick” passed away on August 14, 2024. He was a loving husband, and a remarkable father and grandfather. Rick graduated from Metairie Park Country Day and attended Princeton University, graduating with a degree in Geology. Rick was a member of the Princeton University Swim Team and a member of Cap and Gown Club. Following graduation he attended Tulane University School of Law. Rick maintained his involvement at Country Day serving on the Alumni Board. He also continued to be involved with Princeton by hosting a class reunion in New Orleans.
Rick married the love of his life, Susan Hurth Price, in 1966. They had four children, Ashley Susanna Price, Charles Hurth Price, and Skye Price Krogstad (Kenneth) and was preceded in death by his son Richard Ferguson Price III, “Ricky,” in 1991. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Susan Rayne Swanson, and Summer Rickey Frances Krogstad; his brother, John Valmond Price and his sister, Linda Price Ellvey. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Richard Ferguson Price, Sr. and Ida May Gautreau Price.
After law school, Rick and Susan moved to Switzerland where they taught at Le Rosey. They spent the following winter in Aspen where they tutored students and continued skiing. Subsequently, they returned to New Orleans where Rick began his career in the oil and gas business working as a lease broker and lawyer. In 1986 he started an oil company and enjoyed his work so much that he hoped he would never retire but rather that the pace might be lighter.
While successful in business, his joy and true love was always his family. Rick loved to spend time in Pass Christian, MS and shared his interests with his children who became avid skiers and boaters. Rick loved adventures and shared many memorable travel moments with his family and friends. His love of travel led Rick to become a pilot, and he jokingly recalled when he had an emergency landing at Andrews Airforce Base on a flight to DC and was met by the military.
Rick always had time for those he loved, and he will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
