Rita was the daughter of the late Philip and Catherine “Katie” Nastasi; beloved wife of the late Lawrence J. Federico, Jr.; loving mother of Kathleen Heinsz (Jim), Lawrence III (Kenny), David, Robert (Barbara), Susan Baudier (Guy), and the late Theresa Traina; and sister of Carolyn MacAbee and Philip Nastasi; She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rita was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 14, 1933, and was a graduate of Dominican High School. She also graduated from the Hazel Nuss School of Dance, and later became a dance instructor, teaching ballet and tap. Rita retired after 25 years of working at the offices of Dr. Thomas Gonsoulin and Dr. Scalco.
Relatives and friends of Federico’s Family Florist, Uncle Joe’s Bar, and Spotlight Bar and Grill are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at the family tomb in Metairie Cemetery.
