Robert R. Howard passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the age of 91 at his home in Kiln, MS. He was born on December 3, 1931, in New Orleans to the late George Vincent Howard and Lillian Windecker Howard, and was predeceased by his brother, George Vincent Howard, Jr.. Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan Charlotte Porbes-Howard, his son, Steven M. Howard, his daughters, Gwyn Howard-Catalano, and Donna Howard-Moynan, his grandchildren, Cory, Gary (Jr.), and Troy Catalano, and Rachel and Jill Moynan. Robert had six great-grandchildren: Joseph, Giovanni, Amaya, Angelo, Madeline, Julianne Catalano, and Khloe O'Farrell.
Robert graduated from Holy Cross High School, where he lettered in football and baseball in his four years there. Upon graduation, he briefly worked at South Central Bell (now AT&T) before becoming a member of the National Guard. Robert subsequently joined the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant, First Class. Upon his discharge, he returned to South Central Bell, where he remained employed for 36 years.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
