After college, he entered the sales profession, later developing a very successful insurance career.
He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club, his “home away from home,” for 65years. He was mentored by Olympic Gold medalist Gilbert Gray and won his first Lipton regatta in the Gulf Coast Yachting Association in 1951. He was one of the oldest surviving winners of the GYA.
Later, Bobby with his sail boat, the Sound Inter Club “Siren” competed in races where they were renowned. He also successfully championed many other classes of sailboats.
He will be sadly missed by all as he approaches the heavenly shore.
