Roland James "R. J." Desselle

Roland James “R. J.” Desselle died peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the age of 61. He was the son of the late Albert Joseph Desselle, Sr. and Della Vern Desselle. He leaves behind his loving children Clint Matthew Desselle (Victoria), Brandi Desselle Young (Lonnie), preceded in death by his son Shawn James Desselle. He was the proud grandfather to his three beauties Demi and Vaida Desselle and his step granddaughter Kelsey Young.

He was the brother of Jeanette Adams (Chris), Lolita Smith (Bert), Alberta Breecher (Mike), brothers Robert Desselle, Sr. (Olga), Elbert Desselle (Leo), Albert Desselle, Jr. (Brittany) and the late Tommy Desselle. He also leaves behind his loyal furry companion Nyla.

R.J. was the former spouse of Carol Collins Desselle for 37 years. He was the former owner of Lafitte Welding Works for many years and very proud of the company his family helped to build at the time. He loved making people laugh by telling a good joke and he had great timing.

R.J. was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by his former in-laws, god children, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. May God grant him eternal peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
