

Roland Hector Timmerman, Sr., 86 years old, died on Thursday, December 17, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Roland was born in Ypres, Belgium on October 22, 1929. Roland served in the Belgian Army and was assigned to the Military Police division. He came to the United States in 1952.
Roland was a Sales Executive with Stewart Enterprises for over 50 years, and upon retirement was appointed as the Honorary Belgian Consul for Louisiana and Arkansas under the Clinton Administration. After his tenure, he was proud and honored to serve in an emeritus role. He was also a member of the Plimsoll Club, the New Orleans Opera Club, Les Causeries du Lundi and The Book Club. Roland had a love for family, dancing, reading and travel - especially spending summers at his second home in Ceret, France. Roland would never miss Mardi Gras in New Orleans and attending Mardi Gras Balls. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Gabriele Baronesse von Massenbach Timmerman and their children Anja Timmerman Williamson and husband Darrell, and Gita Timmerman Dickfeld and husband Timm, and his children from his first marriage to Dianne Deynoodt Daigle, Aimee Timmerman Gillespie and husband John, Roland Timmerman Jr. and wife Joette, Pierre Timmerman and wife Denise; his grandchildren Alexandra, Bryant, David and Emily Gillespie; Trey, Seth and Jessica Timmerman; Katlin Lala, Corryn and Parker Timmerman; Gavin Williamson; Ella and Luisa Timmerman Dickfeld. He is also survived by his sister Edith Vandenweghe and her family; as well as countless other loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Monday December 21, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m.
