Ronnie met Carol at LSU in Baton Rouge. She fell in love with his red hair and freckles. Ronnie graduated in Chemical Engineering with membership in Tau Beta Pi, an honorary engineering fraternity. After one year employed by Shell Oil, he returned to school in Boulder, CO to earn his MBA, after which he was offered a job with Texaco - back in New Orleans. Ron worked in the greater New Orleans area oil fields for 3 years, and then the fun really began and life got more exciting!
In the fall of 1971, Ron and his wife and young son moved to Tripoli, Libya. He would consult, design and oversee the building of new oil rigs in the Mediterranean Sea. In 1974, Ron was sent to Sumatra, Indonesia on the equator. In 1977, Ron was sent back to London, England and then off to Rotterdam in Der Nederlands (Holland) for 3 years. Back to London for more consulting and in 1979 to Aberdeen, Scotland to oversee construction and dedication of the “North Sea Oil Platform”, throughout which he was supervisor of it all.
Ron came back home in 1982 to live a normal life. They built their dream house and raised their kids in New Orleans. But World Travelling called to him again, and in 1988 Ron and his family moved to the Peoples Republic of China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Angola, West Africa, and Bangkok, Thailand.
Then he retired at an early age of 60 after 35 years with Texaco, after Chevron bought out Texaco International. He embarked on a second career of real estate investments and rental properties, where he became known as “Mr. Ronnie” and for another 22 years he worked eagerly, developing his opportunities to become successful again and enjoy a satisfying and happy family life, never forgetting the less fortunate and the needy. He liked to spread the wealth.
He liked golf and swimming. He liked cooking. He liked the outdoors. He loved to travel and attend Holy mass all over the world. He liked Everybody, and Everybody liked him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM with a Catholic Mass following at 2:00 PM. Ronald will be laid to rest at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum after Mass has concluded.
