Ronald Edwin Haag passed away on the afternoon of Monday, October 21, 2024, at the age of 89 surrounded by family members after a brief illness. He was a native of New Orleans and resident of Metairie. He was born on February 12, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Albert E. Haag and Georgia A. Haag. Ronald was a proud alumni of Tulane University and had a career as a geophysicist with Shell Oil. He also served in the Army National Guard and spent time at Fort Polk. Ronald was an avid fisherman and loved fishing in the waters of Louisiana. He enjoyed music, dancing and singing and supported the arts at Tulane Summer Lyric Theater and Rivertown Theater. Ronald was a dedicated bridge player during his retirement. He loved to travel, especially in the western US. He made many trips throughout the US on family vacations, and during his career, and always loved to tell stories of those trips. As a geophysicist, he enjoyed collecting rocks and explaining features of the Earth. He also loved to ride his motorcycle. He had a very close-knit group of friends that would take trips all over the country and he cherished those memories. Ronald volunteered with the Orleans Sheriff's office delivering food baskets during the holidays. He also tutored students in math at the Boys & Girls Club. Ronald was a man of faith and supported his local parish, St. Clement of Rome, and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His great sense of humor, compassion and embrace of all that life offered will be missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him. Ronald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Loyce Brownson Haag; his son Jared Haag and his parents, Albert and Georgia Haag. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Haag-Arnett and son-in-law, Michael Arnett; daughter Jennifer H. Woods; twin sister Elizabeth Asaff; his grandson, James Woods; and his grand-daughter, Ava Arnett. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Ochsner Hospital for their care.
