

Rosemary Uddo Testa, age 93, died peacefully at home in New Orleans on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Michael Angelo Testa of Campobasso, Italy, and her parents, Angelina Nastasi Uddo and Frank Uddo of Sicily. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Angela Testa Koenig, Jo-Ann Testa-Hebert (Jim), Rosalie Testa Fitzmorris (Dennis) and Linda Testa Tartaglia (Angelo) and a beloved grandmother of Michael Koenig, Christine Koenig Leatherman (Matthew), Kevin Fitzmorris (Melanie), Todd Fitzmorris (Holly), Allegra Tartaglia and Antonio Tartaglia. She is also survived by 1 great-grandson, Andrew Fitzmorris, her sister, Nancy Uddo Ranatza, 5 step grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren. Anyone who truly knew Rosemary (Rose) will never forget her extraordinary dedication to attending daily Mass. She will also be remembered for her special devotion to the Rosary, the Missionaries of St. Therese, Lay Carmelites and Padro Pio. Rose was a wonderful Italian cook, who loved entertaining family and friends for Sunday dinners and swimming afterwards. She worked tirelessly for the annual St. Joseph Altars, baking cookies and other Italian specialties. When Rose wasn’t working for others, she loved traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. Rose was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rosalee Mary Testa, and her brothers, Salvadore Uddo and Joseph Uddo. Relatives and friends are invited Wednesday, June 1, for visitation beginning at 10 AM at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon, followed by Internment at Lake Lawn Metairie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ursuline Academy, 2635 State St., New Orleans, La. 70118 or to the Missionaries of St. Therese, in care of St. Dominic’s Church.
