Ruby Marie Couvillion D’Antoni, 79, peacefully ended her earthly portion of eternity on Monday, July 28, 2014 in the company of her husband of 63 years, Salvador Lawrence D’Antoni Jr. and the large family they both aspired to. She reunited with her parents, Wiltz Jean and Lillian “Couv” Lacour Couvillion. She was the compassionate matriarch of her survivors that included: her children, Donna D. Piediscalzo (Sal), Salvador D’Antoni III (Denise), Lawrence D’Antoni (Debi), James D’Antoni and Chary D. Egan (Art). Additionally she leaves a brother Raymond John Couvillion (Vi), a brother in law Gerald D. D’Antoni Sr. along with her Jefferson garden club (past president 1968-70) and Silver Sneaker friends. Her grandchildren include, Shane, Jennifer, Kristen, Lauren, Joey (Danyelle), Katie, Austin, Meghan and Paige. In addition she is survived by three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a blessed contingent of close friends that are too numerous to mention. Ruby grew up in the ninth ward and was a longtime resident of Jefferson parish. She graduated from Holy Angels and Francis T. Nichols. She was a devout catholic who donated her time through the years to St. Clement of Rome, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Ann parishes. She frequently attended Cenacle retreat house and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul orphanage. Ruby was a people skilled individual who retired after twenty plus years of customer service for Coca Cola bottling. She enjoyed offering all advice in a beautiful Cajun French dialect that she would then translate to English. Among her grandchildren’s favorite was the consoling and appropriate “tout ca va passé Aussi” (This too shall pass). On behalf of her family we thank those that were a part of Ruby’s life and we request that you assist us in celebrating her contributions to life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, LA on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
