Ruby Noil Olive, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, transitioned into the Kingdom of Heaven at the age of 92 on June 29th, 2022. She was the third daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Noil and was born on May 4th, 1930, in Independence, LA.
Arthur Olive, her wonderful husband of 41 years, preceded her death in June 2007. They loved being together and did much to make their marriage a sweet success. Hand holding and precious displays of affection were had until his passing. At this time, both are filled with the joy of the Lord and are taking their rest together, forever!
Ruby was always a go-getter and knew what she wanted to achieve in life. Once she made up her mind about something, she was going to do her best to make it happen! Giving up was not in her vocabulary. In the early 1950’s, she moved to New Orleans from Independence to find employment. She couldn’t drive so she taught herself how to and had only one minor mishap of driving into a ditch. And though she had to drive herself to the DL Office to take the test, she did earn her driver’s license. That’s the Rube we know!
She later earned her LVN certification and had over a 45-year career in nursing before retiring in the 1990's. Ruby was a true caretaker. She believed people could do anything with prayer and planning. Her inner strength and resolve were infectious and amazing.
Some of the things Ruby loved to do was shop, cook, read and travel. She and Arthur traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally to experience the regional differences and cultures of the world. Her cooking was exceptional, and everything was made with love. Ruby also liked to have long conversations with family and friends. Her advice was honest and usually well received, and people appreciated her counsel.
Ruby was a special lady and will be missed! She is survived by her children Brenda Richard Miller, Shari Francois Hicks, and Willie Allen Francois Jr. and wife Lulu, and her younger sister and brother Ann Gaines and Wilson Noil. She also leaves behind grandchildren Ashley and Jenz Francois; Taylor, Jourdan, and Kennedie Hicks; great grandchildren Julian, Lennox and Lorenzo Francois, as well as a host of wonderful cousins, nephews, and nieces.
