Sandra Riblet Carter, 85, died peacefully at home surrounded by family in New Orleans on Friday, January 2, 2026. She had a full, rich, blessed life as wife, mother, CEO of Idora, Inc. friend and “Gammy.” Her greatest joy was her large, loving family.
Sandra is survived by her four daughters: Kelley Saucier (Luke) of Lake Charles, LA, Caroline Figueroa (Greg) of Dallas, TX, Sandy McCollum Carter of New Orleans and Holly Gordon (John) of New Orleans; and by her grandchildren Carter Figueroa, Adelaide Saucier Maisel (Dylan), Corinn Figueroa Luckie (Jack), Noelle Wolfe (Vincent), Gabrielle Saucier, Kenneth Avanzino, Gregory Figueroa, Alyce Gordon, Lyla Gordon, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Sandra was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, Henry Zac “Buddy” Carter, Jr., and her second husband of 17 years, AT Green. With her marriage to AT Sandra’s family grew adding two lovely stepdaughters, Annette Green Alvarez (Walter) and Yvonne Green Grace (Peter), stepson Jason Green, and five additional grandsons: Andrew Avarez, Adam Alvarez, Patrick Alvarez, Alexander Grace, and William Grace.
Sandra was born in Northeastern Ohio where she lived until her family moved to New Orleans when she was twelve years old. She attended The University of Mississippi. She and Buddy raised their family in New Orleans, LA, Lake Charles, LA, and Pass Christian, MS. They were active in the Episcopal Church in each of those cities and each served on the board of directors of Kanuga Episcopal Conference Center in Hendersonville, NC. She and Buddy were vibrant members of every community in which they lived, contributing time, energy and resources.
“Gammy” is remembered for her beauty and strength, her iron will and generosity, her loving nature and determination. She was glamorous, feisty, funny, sharp and filled with steadfast devotion to her family. She was a fabulous matriarch whose presence will never be duplicated.
The family wishes to acknowledge their long-time relationship with Gail Mitchell and her late mother Mary Wren who have been important members of their household. They also express gratitude for her loving caregivers Linda Jones, Sharon Paul, and AntrelleBanks, with extra help from Emma Andrews, Notre Dame Hospice Care, and Dr. David Myers.
A private funeral service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National World War II Museum or to the charity of your choice.
Sandra’s final sentiment was: “She lived, she loved, she laughed, she died.”
