

Shirley was a loving, caring, and generous person. She dedicated her time, talents, and skills to her family, friends and others. As a devoted mother, she instilled values such as the Word of God, integrity, kindness and responsibility in her children and grandchildren. Shirley worked with a strong sense of integrity, excelling in everything she did and bringing joy to those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness and selflessness.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Parker and Sharon Heedley; grandson, Jerry Parker, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jerrell Don, Ja'Miah Dion, and Eva Joy; niece, Charmain C. Thomas; great-nieces, Shakia and Derrinque; great-nephew, Kendall; and a host of other great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Rudolph Heedley; parents, Leroy Archie and Evelyn Robinson; great-grandparents, Ike and Irene Letcher; sister, Irene Archie; brothers Leroy Archie, Jr. and Herman Archie; aunts Florida Wheeler, Roberta Robinson and Bert Frances and first cousins: Celia Euredice Guidroz, Ruth Brooks, Celia Johnson Harris and Jessie Johnson.
Shirley attended Florence J. Chester Primary School and Booker T Washington High School. She pursued a career in healthcare as a Nursing Assistant and Private Duty Sitter. Additionally, she volunteered at the New Orleans Council on Aging and received the Service Award from LAFON U. M. C. Shirley completed the Senior Companion Program Training and achieved the Certificate of Achievement in Independent Living Skills Class.
Shirley worshiped at Household of Faith and Beacon Light International. Her faith played an important role in her life, providing her with strength and guidance.
In her free time, Shirley enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, listening to spiritual music, and engaging in intercessory prayer. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity and spirituality.
A visitation for Shirley will be held on December 22, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by funeral services from 1 PM to 2 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124.
