Shirley Mae Yates Bourquard peacefully passed away on May 24, 2018 at the age of 88. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, she was the daughter of Theodore W. Yates, Odile Natalie Faciane and stepfather Edward (Bo) W. Bolian and younger half-sister to Henry Moore, Mary Louise Landry, Anthony Moore and William Moore.
She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Edward C. Bourquard, Jr. Mother to Edward C. Bourquard, III (Toni), April A. Vaughn (Bart) and the late Maria E. Bourquard. Grandmother to Jessica Dolan, Kimberly Bourquard, Louis Benjamin, Nicole Vaughn and Casey Vaughn. Great-grandmother to Kalyn, Blake, Juliet and Ashley.
Shirley was a life-long resident of New Orleans spending her early years in Slidell. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother and homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and a passionate genealogist. She devoted herself whole-heartedly to her family. She was truly a sincere and selfless woman that touched the hearts of so many. She will be deeply and forever missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass held in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until Mass. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
