

Steven Vernon Johnson, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born in New Orleans to the late John Howard Johnson and Dorothy “Louise” Nunn Gagliano. He was married to his wife, the late Pamela M. Johnson for 57 years.
Steve was preceded in death by his brothers, John “Randy” Johnson, Don Paul Johnson, and William “Bill” Leachman.
Steve is survived by his children, son Steven “Chip” Johnson (Ann), daughter Stephanie “Stef” Boudreaux (Mike), brother David Johnson (Lorie) and grandchildren Michael and Madison Boudreaux, Cody, Camryn, Caitlin and Collin Johnson. He is also survived by his nieces & nephews Speedy, Kim, Kelly, Kevin, Dustin & Dayna.
Steve attended East Jefferson High School, then enlisted in the Navy. After his military service, he began working at Avondale shipyard for 25 years. Later in his career, he worked for the Department of Entergy. He continued his education at Delgado Community College where he received an Associates in Business.
Throughout Steve’s life, he enjoyed his sports. Through sports, he met some amazing people and lifelong friends. He was fortunate to be able to work the sidelines of the Saints games for over 30 years. Through his time on the sideline many fans, coaches and players would say “Hey, anybody ever tell you, you look like Terry Bradshaw”. He was fortunate to meet Mr. Bradshaw at the Superdome.
The family would like to thank the nurses & staff at Southern Grace Hospice, Megan, Kandise, Reverend Scott, Jovell and his sitters Nita and Roz.
There will be a small private family service.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Steve’s life at 10016 Walden Dr, River Ridge, LA 70123 on Thursday 1/29/2026 at 12:00 pm til 4:00 pm. The family requests that you attend in your favorite sports team shirt/attire. IYKYK
