Mike’s mission in life was to be of service to others. Loyal, dependable, thorough and honest to a fault; no task too big or too small, he stood ready to lend his labor or his perspective to anyone who would benefit.
Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia A. Warren; his son Kevin Warren (Michelle) of Dripping Springs, TX; his stepson Alexander Young (Michelle) of Metairie, LA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Additionally, Mike is survived by his brother, Samuel Warren (Barbara), of Columbus, GA.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Technical University, and was employed as a chemical engineer for Shell Oil Company for more than 40 years. He served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve, obtaining the rank of first lieutenant.
He enjoyed coaching athletics, running, watching professional sports on TV, attending French Quarter Festival and Jazz Fest and caring for the family dogs. Mike was a wine connoisseur and an aspiring master gardener. He served as a loyal and enthusiastic volunteer at the World War II Museum in New Orleans for many years. But most of all, he adored the antics, activities and company of his grandchildren and great-grandchild: Aidan, Ava, Zane, Owen and Kai Warren; and Cody, Nathan, Lila, Joshua and Kaius Young.
Mike was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Rick Shean, of Columbus, GA.
The family would like to give special thanks to the personnel at the WW2 Museum, whose camaraderie Mike fully enjoyed. In lieu of flowers, those so inclined may make a contribution in Mike’s memory to the Museum or to ARNO (Animal Rescue New Orleans). Mike was a communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine in Metairie.
