

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Cholsey Willmott and Corinne Morel Willmott; daughter, Judith Ann Willmott; and son, David Bryan Willmott.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diane Lund Willmott; sons, Thomas Phillip Willmott (Sherry) and Richard Thomas Willmott; sister, Elizabeth Willmott Murray (James); grandchildren, Jessica Anne Willmott and Brandon David Willmott (Brittany); and three great-grandchildren.
Thomas received a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School - Night School in 1967; a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Biology, from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1958; and also attended Louisiana State University (1955-1956); Warren Easton - Night School (1950); Jesuit High School (1947-1949); and McDonough 14 Grammar School (1947).
Thomas served in the military as a Medical Corpsman, Petty Officer 3rd Class, in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and was on Active Duty from 1949 to 1954 during the Korean War. Thomas later graduated from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Police Academy (1970).
Thomas was an accomplished Attorney for 48 years. He was a well respected trial Attorney who had a general law practice. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1968 and retired from the practice of law in 2016. He also retired as a Deputy Chief for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Reserve Patrol Division, after having served for 39 years, from 1970 to 2010. He served under four Sheriffs, including his friend Harry Lee, who he truly thought the world of. He was a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Pfizer Laboratories from 1958 to 1967. He worked part-time as a Laboratory Technician at Our Lady of The Lake Hospital from 1955 to 1958.
Thomas was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many people.
He was a very principled, organized man, who was always well dressed. He was known for his leadership roles.
He had compassion for all animals and loved music. In the 1950’s, he played the saxophone in his own band, called the “Melody Makers”. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout who achieved the rank of Star.
He was a Member of the Chateau Civil Association, and Member of the Chateau Golf & Country Club.
Thomas was a devoted Catholic, who practiced and lived by his faith, he was a parishioner and former usher at St. Clement of Rome Church.
A visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie on Monday, February 7, from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. followed by the Funeral Mass at 2 P.M. Interment will be held in Metairie Cemetery.
