

On Saturday, May 24, 2024 Tommie L. Lockhart, Sr. transitioned from this world into Gods arms. Mr. Lockhart passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas, Texas at the age of 88. Mr. Lockhart was born on July 15, 1932 in Clark County, Alabama where he attended Blount Senior High School and worked at Brookland Field Airforce Base, in Mobile, Alabama as a teenager. Mr. Lockhart attended Xavier University and graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and shortly thereafter received a Master’s in Biological Science from Southern University. Mr. Lockhart was a life member of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. Fraternity, Alpha Sigma Chapter (Southern University). He went on to Serve in the United States Army as a Medic. Mr. Lockhart went on to have a 32-year Career in the Orleans and Plaquemines Parishes public school systems teaching general science along with becoming a life insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company achieving “Million Dollar Round Table” status in sales. Tommie became a successful real estate investor and developer in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Tommie L. Lockhart, Sr. was married but twice, first to Ms. Barbara Nell Mondell, where he is survived from that marriage by their two children, Tommie L. Lockhart, Jr. of New Orleans and Damond Richard Lockhart of New Orleans and then to his second wife, who he is survived by, Mrs. Luella E. Robinson, Lockhart of Dallas, Texas and her two children, Mia Robinson Westerfield and Wilfred V. Robinson, III.
Tommie’s family verifies that he lived a long and fruitful life and was pleased with his accomplishments. He leaves a strong legacy for his family to follow.

Lockhart, Sr.’s funeral proceedings will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124: Friday, June 7, 2024; Immediate family viewing – 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.; Family and friends viewing – 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.; Prayer Service and Eulogy – 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; Internment- 11:00 noon – 11:30 a.m. Family greeting / Repass - Following burial services
