Vance Greenslit Reynoir was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 3, 1958, and died unexpectedly on August 31, 2021, after evacuating to Fairhope, Alabama with his family for Hurricane Ida. He was 63 years old.
Vance attended Isidore Newman School, Metairie Park Country Day School, The University of New Orleans, and Tulane University. He began his career as an investment banker at Hattier, Sanford & Reynoir, where he became Partner and worked with his father for many years. He joined Dorsey and Company in 2007 where he was Senior Vice President.
Vance was always known for his sharp wit, amazing sense of humor, love of good times and passion for The Rolling Stones. He was the eternal prankster, always in for one more…Vance was the captain of FUN. He loved everything about New Orleans, especially the Saints, Mardi Gras, boiling crawfish, barbeque and of course, Dixie Beer. Watching a Saints game with Vance was always an energetic and entertaining experience. At times, it was more entertaining to watch Vance’s reactions to the game than to watch the game itself.
Vance treasured spending time with his family and many friends. He centered his life around his wife, Pam, and their beloved triplets: Jacques, Will and Adèle. Some of Vance’s proudest moments were watching his children excel in their respective sports and academic pursuits. Vance was also the best brother to his sisters, Michèle and Rayne, always there to help at a moment’s notice. Vance loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a brave man who was always willing to lend a hand. Vance never met a stranger and, if he did, they were not a stranger for long.
Vance spent many years coaching his children and countless others at Carrollton Boosters where “Coach Vance” also played in his youth. He actively supported and enjoyed volunteering at Trinity Episcopal School and Isidore Newman School, where his children attended, and served several years on the Trinity School Board of Trustees and as president of the Newman School Green and White Club. Vance was also a long-time member of the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club and several Carnival organizations.
He is predeceased by his father, Guthans “Gus” Anthony Reynoir, his mother, Diane “Sissy” Greenslit Reynoir and his brother, Porter Guthans Reynoir.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Pucheu Reynoir and their adored triplets, Jacques Pucheu Reynoir, William Guthans Reynoir and Adèle Vance Reynoir, his sisters, Michèle Trimble Reynoir and Rayne Reynoir Carradine (John), and extended family, countless friends and neighbors who loved him and whom he loved in return.
Vance was loved by so many who will miss his humor, his laugh, and his joie de vivre. His magnetic personality never failed to light up a room. He was genuinely kind to all who knew him and will be dearly missed by everyone he left behind far too soon. You never realize how big a tree is until it falls. Vance cast a broad shadow of comfort and protection and many, many will feel his absence. Smile when you think of Vance, we know he would like that.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans at 3 PM. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM.
