

Vita Rose Spence Scholl of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on September 3, 2025, at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom P. Spence and Rita R. Lanson Spence, her sister, Kathleen A. Rathey, and her husband of 51 years, John A. Scholl. Vita is survived by her brother, Matthew P. Spence, nieces Elizabeth R. Spence, Stephanie Scholl (Rick), Dorothy Scholl, and nephew Jeffery Scholl (Jessica), as well as 5 great nieces and nephews. Born on November 27, 1945, Vita was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and spent the last 20 years in St, Tammany Parish. She graduated John McDonogh Senior High School. A longtime member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Vita also participated in the Kaycettes, Pontchartrain Astronomy Society, and the Pontchartrain Garden Club. She loved collecting panadas and won Kaycettes’s Lady of the Year in 2018. Her work history includes William B. Coleman, and Bourbon French Perfume Shop. She also was the long-time caretaker of her Mother-in-Law. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all that knew and loved her.
The family would like to express their gratitude to longtime caretaker and friend, Ms. Lucy Gordon, as well as nurses, Ms. Sandy Bodin, Ms. Amy Crosby, Ms. Toya Rideau, and Ms. Jessica Vinning. Vita’s services will take place on Monday, September 15th at Lake Lawn Metairie, with visitation beginning at 8:30am followed by a mass at 10am. Vita will then be laid to rest next to her husband at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Special Olympics or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Vita’s name.
